Your major assignment for this semester is a critical appraisal of the following research article:
Cho, S., & Jang, S. J. (2021). Effects of an existential nursing intervention for college students in the COVID-19 pandemic situation. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, 18(10), 5268. https://doi.org/10.3390/ijerph18105268
Students will be responsible to critically appraise the article as per the provided rubric and formally present your critique as a written paper. The paper must be written according to APA 7th edition formatting (title page, introduction, conclusion, double spacing, headings/subheadings etc. – see the APA section of the grading rubric attached).
Paper length should not exceed 3000 words, double spaced, excluding cover page and references. If you are concise in your critique the paper may be shorter and that is fine as long as you speak to all items in the grading rubric.
There are a number of resources you can use to help you with the critiquing process:
• The PHAC critical appraisal tool and toolkit on Brightspace can be used as a guide.
• As well, Code of Ethics is another great additional resource when critiquing this section of the article.
• Your textbook, specifically chapter 4, appendix C, p. 365 and appendix D, p. 397. The appendixes include some sample critiques that may help you with your approach to writing up your critique, however, you have to submit your critique in proper APA paper formatting.
• Additionally, the following website https://guides.mclibrary.duke.edu/ebm/home contains critical appraisal tools you can avail of when critiquing. This has some great tools that can be used and included as an appendix to validate your critique.
Remember, whatever resources or tool you use, they must be cited appropriately and added to your reference list in addition to the research article that is assigned to critique.
