Formative Assessment Guidelines – Creating a Project Proposal Presentation
Now is the right time for you to seriously engage with part 2 of your final assignment on this module,
which is a written report, critically evaluating two projects and recommending best practices for the
relevant class of projects. This week, you are expected to investigate, develop content and record a
project proposal presentation.
For your formative assessment, you are asked to choose a pair of projects from the same class (e.g.
stadium construction, disaster relief, high-speed rail development, enterprise automation, new product
development, Olympic Games, music festivals, political campaigns, etc) – Aviation Related Required
(think about how you would justify this), collect some initial data and information on these projects and
prepare a brief (five minutes maximum) individual presentation on the proposed choice of projects
(Aviation Related), including some preliminary analytical results (see below). These analytics can then
be used in your final report. The following questions will be critical and should guide you through the
process of developing content for the proposal presentation:
• Why are the selected projects interesting and what is so unique about them within their
• What aspects of the projects are worth attention, what PM knowledge areas are you planning to
investigate and why?
• Have you found enough resources (past case studies, books, datasets, web-sites) to be able to
tackle a specific pair of projects?
• What was the form of project management taken and methodology employed in both cases?
• What system structure did the projects use?
You are expected to record a five-minute video of your proposal presentation. Just to note, you are not
required to show your face on the video; a voice-over is fully acceptable.
In addition to the video, an electronic file of your presentation slides (.ppt) is to be submitted. If you
have used third-party materials in your presentation (e.g. a photograph, chart or video), you will need to
abide by the copyright policies. Please make sure that you correctly cite and reference all secondary
sources you use, and include a reference list on the last slide. Ensure all sources referenced in your
assessment are correctly listed according to the Harvard System of referencing.
